Observations from LABR NL-Only Auction – 2019

The LABR NL-Only Auction took place on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Let’s see how the “experts” approached some interesting positional questions in the National League. Please note that LABR uses AVG and Wins instead of OBP and K’s. For the “Sleepers” list, I also pulled from the LABR AL-Only Auction 2019.

Brewers Closer

Knebel $15

Hader $15

Jeffress $1

I think most pundits believe Knebel will be the primary closer and Hader will act as fireman.

Rockies Second Base

Hampson $16

McMahon $5

Rodgers $2

The experts have their eyes on Hampson. McMahon is a post-hype sleeper.

Padres Outfield (Not Counting Wil Myers)

Cordero $5

Renfroe $16

Margot $10

Reyes $7

Jankowski $1

The experts sure love Renfroe and his projected power.

Reds Outfield

Puig $26

Kemp $8

Schebler $6

Winker $16

Senzel $14

In my opinion, the most fascinating spring battle. Pencil in Puig in RF but what next? I think fantasy owners want Senzel/Winker, but it is more likely that Kemp gets full AB’s and then some crazy time-share with Schebler/Senzel in center. But, how do you not give Winker full AB’s after last year?

Cardinals Outfield

Martinez $10

O’Neill $8

Fowler $3

Bader $16

Ozuna $24

Ozuna and Bader get full ABs. Fowler is getting paid too much to not get a good look again in RF. That leaves Martinez and O’Neill to fight over left over ABs.

Did Any Marlin Go Over $10?

Granderson $1

Brinson $4

O’Brien $3

Neil Walker $3

Castro $10

No! But, Castro at least got to $10. Pro-Tip to Meat – The Marlins are really, really bad…do not purchase.

“Sleepers”

Max Kepler $18

Jake Bauers $13

Corey Seager $20

Nick Pivetta $12

Jesse Winker $16
