Nitros

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Buy two of the following core: Marte, Upton, Kemp, AGon, LaRoche or Freeman.

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

I like LaRoche at $21.

What purchase do you regret the most?

Rios at $15

Sundance Kids

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Add one more ace pitcher to Kershaw and Harvey, which was accomplished through Felix Hernandez. Since I finished poorly in 2014 in HR/RBIs, I wanted to get more power this year. Knock on wood, I may have done that.

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

Despite the ensuing controversy, I enjoyed my brief departure from the draft on Saturday afternoon! At this point, I’m not sure I got anyone for well below value, though I’m intrigued what $1 Kris Medlen might deliver.

What purchase do you regret the most?

No real regrets, either from the draft or extracurricular activities. Closest may be Melky Cabrera at the end of Day 1, but only because his acquisition left me with only $23 going into Day Two. Thought for sure Paezans would grab him; they obviously had the money to do so.

The one player you had to have this year?

Brooke … No wait! No must have players, though I wanted to make a run at a top level offensive player. I was not going to do a keg stand though, so was surprised to get McCutcheon at $49. I wanted to make a run at Jose Fernandez as a mid-season addition and 2016 anchor, but bidding got too high.

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Jay Bruce and Ryan Zimmerman burned me in 2014, so unless either one was a steal I wasn’t going to touch them.

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

For $11 Jean Segura would have been nice.

Paezans

Happy with Cole and Arrieta at 18 and 17.

Chris Sale — or someone similar in stature.

Anyone over $45.

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Nelson Cruz….Christian Yelich……or any established closer.

Peep Rub

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Spend on closers, OBP and speed

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

Cole Hamels at $15 or Michael Morse at $8.

What purchase do you regret the most?

Gomes at $18 because of his injury and currently Rodney at any price.

The one player you had to have this year?

Victor Martinez

The one player you had to avoid this year?

David Wright.

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Adam Lind.

Cocky Spainards

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

I’d rather not say, but it was my 21st strategy that won’t be good enough to win. Better luck next year!

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

I didn’t have many values. I didn’t plan on Cuddyer, but it might’be been him. I would’ve paid a lot more for Alvarez.

What purchase do you regret the most?

I was shocked to get stuck with Shields at 19, pissed that I had to pay $6 for d’Arnaud, but I will probaly regret Harper at $36 the most.

The one player you had to have this year?

Alvarez.

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Tulo. There isn’t a fantasy player that I love and hate more. I also was avoiding Billy Hamilton after owning him last year so he’ll probably steal over 100 bases.

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Shocked that Soler went for $22. I must’ve been doing a shot. If I would’ve had a roster spot, I would’ve definitely liked to go another $1 on Spann.

Jay’s Crew

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Two closers, three good OF, and Miggy

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

Kemp $26.

What purchase do you regret the most?

Cassilla. Too much too early when there were hitters and starters that would have been better at $21.

The one player you had to have this year?

Miggy

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Verlander

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Nelson Cruz

Blue Moon Odum

Anthony Rendon

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Starling Marte

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Matt Carpenter

Streak

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Drink a lot. Get good values. Drink a lot more. Get OBP anchors and cheap power. Celebrate with Fireball.

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

Wainwright.

What purchase do you regret the most?

Revere at $19.

The one player you had to have this year?

Votto – that said, I wouldn’t have paid over $39 for him.

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Nobody.

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Harper.

Al’s Pals

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Make sure I got a good SS & 3B. Don’t worry too much about OF, try to pick up starters late. Get one great SP and another good one. Don’t overpay for closers.

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

I like Quintana for $3. I had him in the higher tier that went for $10-$15. I’m also happy with Guerrero and Jose Fernandez, and they have keeper potential.

What purchase do you regret the most?

Originally Trumbo, but I’m warming up to that. I regret not getting a decent catcher.

The one player you had to have this year?

It was either Carlos Santana or Nolan Arenado (plus Seager after the M’s were picked). I wanted a decent 3B this year.

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Moose. Had to tape my mouth shut during the bidding. He’s hitting and West loves that, but he’s OBP death and Pals hate that.

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Votto. I think he’s going to be very good this year. Anibal Sanchez too. He was cheap.

Earl’s Squirrels

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

Not to get too drunk!

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

I measure value as least bad at this point. Zack Greinke.

What purchase do you regret the most?

Jason Vargas. What was I thinking?

The one player you had to have this year?

Adrian Gonzalez.

The one player you had to avoid this year?

Jason Vargas!!!!!!!

I wish I would have gone $1 more on….

Paul Goldschmidt. Keg Stand!!!

Meat

What was your strategy going into the 2015 Auction?

I’m a value investor.

What was your best purchase (however you value “best”)?

Billy Hamilton. He’s on pace to steal 130 bases. Last year the most home runs was 232 and the most steals was 177. So steals are harder to find than HRs. What would be the auction value for someone who hits 130 HRs?

What purchase do you regret the most?

Not keeping Casilla for $1. I could have been guaranteed SF’s closer for $11. Fuck fuck fuck.

The one player you had to have this year?
